Shintoism is the indigenous religion of Japan going back to pre-historic times.  It is expressing the Japanese devotion to nature and to invisible spiritual beings referred to as “kami”.  In this richly illustrated 1-week course, we will learn about Shinto temple architecture and some of the colorful rituals and festivals associated with this religion as they are practiced today and continue to influence Japanese culture.
