CourseGraphic Learn about the care of animals and how to recognize signs of illness and disease. Gain skills for interpersonal communication; interaction with clients and their animals, and how to assist the veterinarian during examinations. Become familiar with administrative duties, such as fee collection, banking and accounts payable to maintain an efficient front office. At the end of class, you will be eligible for a 40-hour clinical externship.
 
There will be a 30 minute break for lunch during Saturday classes.

Please read:  Those who complete this class could be qualified to sit for the American Academy of Professional Coders Certified Professional Coder exam, the American Health Information Association Certified Coding Associate exam and/or other national certification exams. Prereqs: You must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma, its equivalent or a higher degree; have documentation . You must have the ability to read, write and accurately communicate in English, basic computer skills and an email account. You must have documentation of the Silver Level achievement on the ACT’s National Readiness Certificate (also known as WorkKeys exams). This is a portable credential that demonstrates a level of workplace employability skills in applied mathematics, locating information and reading for information that adds merit to your resume. If you have an associates degree or higher, you may submit official or unofficial transcripts in lieu of taking the WorkKeys exams. If you are a Michigan licensed social worker or nurse, you may provide your license number in an email in lieu of your degree documents. All documents should be submitted for department review to workforce-development@wccnet.edu two weeks before the class start date.
